Mission, Vision, and Values

Mission Statement

Huckleberry Health and Development transforms access to affirming, holistic care for neurodivergent individuals, disabled children, and under-resourced families by dismantling systemic barriers and supporting the communication, regulation, and daily living skills they need to thrive — by providing holistic, inclusive, and culturally responsive care that honors each person’s autonomy and definition of success.

Vision

Huckleberry Health and Development envisions a world where access to healthcare is no longer determined by geography, language, identity or income — but by the belief that every person deserves to be seen, heard, and supported. We are building a future where care is local, inclusive, and rooted in cultural respect, and where individuals have the tools and support to fully participate in and shape their communities.

Values

  • Equity – We believe everyone has the right to access the healthcare they need, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, income level, language, or ability.
  • Accessibility – We are committed to removing barriers to care by making services simple, timely, and available within the communities we serve.
  • Communication Diversity – We value all forms of communication as valid, meaningful, and essential — from spoken words to alternative and nonverbal methods.
  • Inclusion – We make space for everyone, especially those who are often excluded, and affirm the worth of every person without conditions or prerequisites.
  • Autonomy – We respect each individual’s right to define their own goals, make informed choices, and live in alignment with their identity and values.
  • Cultural Humility – We embrace and incorporate each client’s cultural background and family structure into their care experience, always seeking to listen, learn, and adapt.
  • Dignity – We treat every individual with respect, honoring their lived experience, voice, and potential. We believe people deserve space and support to develop skills, and access equipment to engage in all the activities that occupy their time regardless of ability.
  • Community Empowerment – We believe in building a more inclusive, affirming community through education, collaboration, and advocacy.
